If only I had
the words to express
Why our 45th reunion was such a success
What joy- and excitement- how thrilling- what fun!
After so many years of not seeing everyone.
To hug- to catch up- to share our lives and all we do
To laugh- to talk- to be happy- to remember it all anew!
We waited so long- it was over too fast
This short week-end we spent visiting our past
Thought of all my blessings as the end grew near
Like how fortunate I was to grow up here.
With wonderful friends and a great group of peers
And- values that have since all but disappeared
We grew up in Elizabeth City with little to fear
Except, maybe, our parents, if we needed it on the rear!
God Bless America- In God we trust
Saluting the flag- they were all a must
But- I must tell you now that the reunion was great
And- I can't wait to set the date for 2008!
